We provide foster care and other direct services to 1,100 children and families through community-based offices in nine locations. We share what we learn with child welfare systems, tribes, courts, private providers and community partners.
We are committed to 2020:
Building Communities of Hope, a nationwide effort to improve the safety and success of children and their families. We work in support of a range of public, private, tribal and community partners to: Safely reduce the need for foster care 50 percent by the year 2020. We partner with child welfare systems, families, policymakers, courts and American Indian tribes to support practices and policies that safely reduce the need for foster care, increase the safety and success of children and strengthen the resilience of families. Demonstrate how every child can have a safe and permanent family. We provide direct services with the goal that no child in our care will age out of the foster care system without a safe, loving family of his or her own. Through this work, we seek to influence improvements in life outcomes, especially in the areas of education, mental health and employment. Support more effective investments in children and families. We contribute nonpartisan information, data and resources to help public officials make more effective investments — and reinvestments — in children and families. Encourage a shared vision for success. We encourage community leaders to think, plan and act collectively to improve the long-term safety and success of children and their families.

The College Board is a mission-driven not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity.
Founded in 1900, the College Board was created to expand access to higher education. Today, the membership association is made up of over 6,000 of the world’s leading educational institutions and is dedicated to promoting excellence and equity in education.
Each year, the College Board helps more than seven million students prepare for a successful transition to college through programs and services in college readiness and college success — including the SAT and the Advanced Placement Program. The organization also serves the education community through research and advocacy on behalf of students, educators and schools.
Students are highly encouraged to seek the assistance of federal, state and local grant programs that offer financial aid. Unlike a student loan, these grants do not have to be repaid and are indicative of an ever-increasing awareness that the future economy – and overall social infrastructure of a nation – depends on the best education opportunities for all young adults.
Description of Services:
No student should ever be denied the opportunity to pursue a degree from a higher education institution. Unfortunately, it is becoming increasingly difficult for students and their families to pay the exorbitant cost of tuition, room and board, and necessary expenditures.
In 2011 the price of a two-semester or three-quarter college year is rising above $20,000 for private schools, approaching $12,000 annually for public universities and more than $5,000 per year for community colleges and trade schools.
One of the major problems students and their families have with financial aid programs is how to get the process started. The task can seem formidable, but there are plenty of resources available to help in finding out the details of a specific grant opportunity.

Our mission is to enrich the lives of young adults with mental illness, ages 18 – 35, with experiences of acceptance, personal growth, and accomplishment. We use a peer-run model to create a supportive community with social activities, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.
Description of Services:
Our mission is to enrich the lives of young adults with mental illness, ages 18 – 35, with experiences of acceptance, personal growth, and accomplishment. We use a peer-run model to create a supportive community with social activities, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.
Social Program:
Group members gather every weekend to build relationships and enjoy activities. Events are divided up into the following 2 categories.
Community Events:
Community is important to us! That is why we invite people from our community to come out and have fun with us. Community members are defined as members friends, members family, and potential IYA members (those interested in becoming a member). We also have larger community events several times a year where we invite general members of our larger community.
Members Only Events:
These events are limited to members of the organization either for logistical reasons (generally because they require a certain amount of planning) or are at a members home.
Young Adults Speak Out! (YASO) – Presentations by young adults in mental health recovery! This peer-run program is designed to help share the truth about mental illness, who it affects, and spread awareness of the possibility of recovery. Each presentation includes a personal story of hope by one of our young adult speakers, providing inspiration with their story of hope. Please contact outreach@impactmore.org for more information, or to book a presentation.
iMConnected – IYA is now expanding programs in the Tri-City area! Partially funded through a grant from Tri City Medical Center, iMConnected is a new leadership development program designed, and piloted, in FY 2015/16 in order to launch a new IYA group in San Diego’s North County. The new IYA group will be organized and lead by the newly trained iMConnected peer leaders. Please contact iMC@impactmore.org for more information.

Like civilians, military families are subject to crises such as financial struggles, depression, serious illness, divorce, and stressful parenting situations.
Description of Services:
Like civilians, military families are subject to crises such as financial struggles, depression, serious illness, divorce, and stressful parenting situations. When added to the already difficult lifestyle of military personnel (that often includes family separation during deployments and relocation away from loved ones and friends), these problems can become too challenging to manage alone.
Jewish Family Service is dedicated to providing support to low-income, active duty military personnel and their families. Our professional case managers conduct needs assessments and refer families to appropriate resources both within JFS and out in the community. We also provide limited emergency financial assistance.
Jewish Family Service recognizes the sacrifices of our military families and we are committed to helping you during your time of need.
Additional Information:
Military Case Management services include assistance with: basic necessities, such as food, clothing, and shelter; transportation; specialized mental health and counseling referrals; daily coping skills; advocacy; budgeting; intervention in the midst of a crisis; public benefits; and referrals for professional services and community resources based on your specific situation.

We accomplish this through programs that provide job readiness and life skills training, along with job placement, mental health and prisoner re-entry services, relapse prevention and sober-living housing for adults and youth in need.
Second Chance uses the STRIVE job readiness training program whose attitudinal training model is a highly effective curriculum for rebuilding lives by successfully connecting people to gainful employment. Second Chance offers the two-year program on a large scale, placing participants in good jobs at a record-setting pace. With an emphasis on individual accountability, participants engage in 160 hours of intensive instruction during which they break personal barriers to self-sufficiency, obtain new job skills, develop résumés and career plans, and practice interviewing techniques.
The Second Chance Youth Garden is a six-week job training program for young people ages 14-24 who have had involvement with the juvenile justice system. As a partnership with San Diego County Juvenile Court and Community School (JCCS) system, our program combines in-class and experiential learning to increase youth awareness of urban agriculture and food justice, and help move them towards successful high school graduation.
With eight alcohol and drug free homes owned and operated by Second Chance in the San Diego area, residents can be housed in a supportive environment as they transition to permanent employment and housing.
